🎓 Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN)
Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) represent the fundamental skills in reading, writing, and basic mathematics crucial for a child's successful learning journey and holistic development. NEP 2020 emphasizes FLN's importance as the bedrock for all future learning and a key to India's social and economic progress. FLN encompasses abilities like reading comprehension, expressive writing, basic arithmetic operations, and critical thinking.
The NIPUN Bharat Mission, launched in 2021, aims to achieve universal FLN by 2026-27, ensuring that every child masters essential skills by the end of Grade 3. This initiative prioritizes early childhood education, stressing the use of child-centric, play and activity-based learning approaches, along with high-quality educational resources. It also focuses on teacher capacity building, developing competency-based learning materials, and monitoring student progress through continuous and formative assessments. Addressing the learning crisis and promoting equitable access to education are key objectives of the FLN mission.
In essence, FLN is a multifaceted approach that seeks to empower children with foundational literacy and numeracy skills, thereby laying the groundwork for a brighter future of lifelong learning and well-rounded development.
